Utility Box Mural – Cronulla Esplanade (2024)

Commissioned as part of a graffiti remediation project by Sydney Water, this hand-painted mural transforms a functional utility box into a vibrant piece of public art along the Cronulla Esplanade. Inspired by the ocean’s fluid movement and natural contours, the design uses layered greens, blues, and limes with white linework that echoes topographic and aquatic forms.

As a highly visible installation adjacent to the coastline, the mural enhances the area’s visual appeal, deters future vandalism, and reflects the local natural environment. This project is a strong example of how small-scale infrastructure can become a canvas for creativity, storytelling, and place-based identity in public space.
